Top 5 Mobile Interaction Designs of January 2016

January 29, 2016

Looking for beautiful animated UI inspiration? Every month, we feature the best of mobile UI animations and interaction design. From real apps to Dribbble and Behance masterpieces, our Top 5 Mobile Interaction Design series aim to inspire you when you’re stuck in a creative dry spell.

In no particular order, here are our favourite app designs featuring the loveliest mobile UI animations.

1. Lipsync by Artem Osetrov

When I need to unwind after a long day, I would watch humorous videos on YouTube. Mostly a mixture of John Oliver’s Last Week Tonight and Jimmy Fallon’s Lip Sync Battles. This new Lipsync app, however, threatens to boot Jimmy out of my life. As presented on designer Artel Osetrov’s Dribbble, the app is a showcase of very nice mobile UI animations. From the Tinder-style swiping to vote for the better lip-sync contestant to the smooth screen transitions with ease, Lipsync is a must-see for mobile UI animations inspiration. Check out Artem’s Behance as well.

2. Netflix Login concept by Farhan Razak

Whatever ‘Netflix and chill” may mean to you, there’s no denying that Netflix is becoming essential to our lives. Even this third-grader gets it in his essay against Trump’s immigration policies, delivered with some third-degree burns. The Netflix app though could use with a little sprucing up. Designer Farhan Razak’s rebound of Rahul Bhopal’s Netflix Master Sign In concept adds just the right amount of great mobile UI animations and branding. The video as background is just spot on, a clever encapsulation of the essence of Netflix.

3. Silvercar by Silvercar

Fancy mobile UI animations and pretty graphics aren’t the only requirements to create a Handsome product. The design team at Handsome has shared with us tips on mobile prototyping and how to redesign a website for the mobile experience. It is from their latest work published on Dribbble that truly reveals their talent as designers. Silvercar is a Handsome car rental app filled with subtle but effective mobile UI animations and bold, beautiful photography. For all your animated UI inspiration needs, Silvercar is the perfect app to learn from.

4. Health Tracker App concept by Eleken

This month’s edition of the Top 10 Mobile App UI featured a number of productivity and health-tracking apps that will keep you on track for those New Year resolutions. Yet, I couldn’t resist sneaking yet another health tracker app concept by Eleken thanks to the gorgeous mobile UI animations and brilliant color palette. The choice of bold colors is nicely balanced with the smooth UI animations and transitions, making it a pleasure to navigate and a breeze to read your health data.

5. Orph by Prismalogic

I started off 2016 by getting hooked on new mobile games. The simple ones that are visually stunning and highly engaging usually get to me. Orph is one such game. Of you enjoy playing pool, you’d love Orph. The gameplay doesn’t seem too difficult at the primary levels but believe me, they get challenging. It’s simple enough, you just have to move the balls to where they belong. Plain old kinetics make up the basis of the simple mobile UI animations of this game. But together with the audio, the experience of the game leaves you pumped up and calmed down at the same time. Strange, but effective.

Show off your gorgeous mobile UI animations. Tweet us @protoio or @wildningja for a feature on our blog!
