Top Design Events to not Miss in 2023

Connecting with peers, getting inspiration, sharing or gaining knowledge, and finding new job opportunities are the main motivations to attend design conferences or meetups. After being locked up for a couple of years, without many travel or networking possibilities, physical events are fully back on track. 

Here is a non-exhaustive list of events we believe every digital designer, UX professional, or product manager should attend this upcoming year, regardless of their seniority. 

January

Design Matters Mexico
When: Jan 25-26, 2023
Where: Mexico City, Mexico, and Online

Design Matters is a digital design conference “made for designers by designers,” taking place since 2015 in Copenhagen, since 2020 in Japan, and for the first time this year in Mexico City, Latin America. It’s a two-day event filled with great talks and workshops, and this year’s themes are “Responsible Design in practice,” “A superhero? No, a designer!” and “Revolution from Digital Design.” 

March

Industry Europe
When: March 20-22, 2023
Where: Dublin, Ireland

If you are a software product manager, you have to be there! During this 3-day event, you will get immersed in great talks about the latest methods, tools, and frameworks used to build top-notch software products. Speakers include Michael Sacca from Dribbble, Varun Parmar from Miro, and Marc Abraham from Intercom, among others.

UX Copenhagen
When: March 23-24, 2023
Where: Copenhagen, Denmark, and Online

It’s the 9th edition of “Denmark’s most inspirational human experience conference,” which will cover UX, strategy, content, and research subjects this year. If you find yourself in Europe during springtime and are a UX professional, digital leader, strategist, or marketeer – you shouldn’t miss it! And if you can’t attend in person, the event will also be available online! 20+ talks, hands-on workshops, and networking – all you need packaged in one cool event! 

May

DiBi (Design It; Build It)
When: May 11-12, 2023
Where: Edinburg, UK

This event is for people who want to share stories and experiences about building unique products and services with others. If your story is worth sharing, let the DiBi team know by making a submission here (deadline: February 1, 2023). The team is still working on this year’s agenda, so keep an eye out for any announcements on their page or social channels. 

From Business to Buttons
When: May 12, 2023
Where: Stockholm, Sweden

“From Business to Buttons is Europe’s premier User Experience and Service Design conference.” So if you are looking for inspiration and hands-on advice on creating great experiences, you should definitely attend this one!

UXDX NYC
When: May 16-18, 2023
Where: NYC, US, and Online

For a couple of years now, the UXDX team has helped teams improve the way they work and build products. Constant collaboration with customers and an empowered team are their recipe for success. In 2023, the first conference of the UXDX series will happen in New York City in mid-May. The agenda will be packed with case studies, tools, and techniques companies can utilize to empower their teams in building great products.

UXLx
When: May 23-26, 2023
Where: Lisbon, Portugal

This is the 14th edition of the “greatest UX conference in Europe,” where attendees will get inspired by talks from the industry’s top speakers and strengthen their skills with hands-on workshops. Four days in sunny Lisbon in May is also an excellent opportunity to explore one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Why not enjoy this experience with your team or maybe even with some newly-met UXers? 

June

Design Matters Tokyo
When: June 2-3, 2023
Where: Tokyo, Japan, and Online

This is the 3rd time Design Matters takes place in Japan, Tokyo. The mission of the organizing team behind Design Matter is to share knowledge, offer inspiration, and connect attendees with fellow digital designers from around the globe. This becomes possible thanks to a lineup of both local and international speakers, who will enthusiastically share their digital design experience.

Pixel Pioneers 
When: June 16, 2023
Where: Bristol, UK

Pixel Pioneers is a one-day event for UI/UX designers and front-end developers. The program of this one-day event, preceded by a workshop day, includes carefully-curated talks featuring top-level speakers, sharing real-world actionable insights. There are a few speaker slots left – feel free to submit your proposal here (until April 15, 2023). 

September

Design Matters
When: September 27-28
Where: Copenhagen, Denmark, and Online

This Copenhagen-based event gathers a community of people passionate about digital design, technology, art, and our societies. The program of the event is expected to include many talks, workshops, and so much more! Keep an eye on their webpage and social channels for more updates.

October

UXDX EMEA
When: October 11-13, 2023
Where: Dublin, Ireland, and Online

Quoting the event organizing team: “Learn the latest Product, UX, Design and Dev practices, increase your T-shaped skills and discover the techniques companies are using to empower teams to deliver.”
