Top 5 Mobile App Designs of Spring 2022

April 6, 2022

There hasn’t been a dull moment of 2022 yet, and we could all use an infusion of creativity. Let’s jump right into our latest roundup of the best mobile app designs.

1. Move by NPE Team

To-do apps have become commonplace, but Move is a new entrant to the market that takes a different approach by encouraging group collaboration through gamification. It animates the process of completing tasks with a cute alpaca that users can dress up with digital accessories that they accumulate by completing tasks. Overall, the mobile app design is simple, effectively encourages action, and has helpful color-coding to keep track of different task categories. We love the pastel colors and yellow underscores that break up the app’s white background.

2. Beem by Holome

Whether we like it or not, the metaverse is coming, and Beem is on top of things by getting us there faster with AR communication technology. The app enables anyone to take a quick video of themselves and, using augmented reality, “beam” themselves into another location. Its mobile app design is simple, allowing users to capture a full-body video by pressing down for up to 15 seconds. Then using the share button in the top right corner to move the person into any background or video.

3. Sēkr by Sekr, Inc

Booking a campsite is largely still a manual process, managed with phone calls and pen and paper. Sēkr is working to change that through what Techcrunch calls “Airbnb for campsites.” The mobile app design offers a way to find campgrounds with the amenities travelers need, such as showers, restrooms, water, and free Wi-Fi. It uses a handy icon legend to find campsites that meet certain criteria and lay them out on a map to get a quick visual understanding of their options in any given area. The filtering feature is also helpful along with the top navigation of the app, enabling users to narrow down the options to find exactly what they’re looking for.

4. Pestle by Will Bishop

We love a good recipe app, especially ones that help us aggregate the great recipes we find from all over the internet in one place. And instead of having to digest a recipe all at once, it takes a cook-friendly approach and also breaks it down into steps that they can advance through to make sure no step is skipped. The mobile app design is plain white with hints of green, which denotes important information or action items the user needs to take. It even syncs up with Facetime for iPhones running iOS 15 and above, showing a video of a friend so that you can cook together.

5. HabitMinder by HabitMinder

Forming good habits takes a lot of effort, but HabitMinder makes it easier with nudges to remind you to practice the positive actions you want to ingrain. Users can pick from brightly colored cards with pre-made habits, such as drinking more water or taking certain steps each day. Alternatively, they can enter in custom habits. All of these are tracked on the “today” home screen with progress bars at the top and completed habits down toward the bottom. We love how customizable the app is. From icons to colors, users can make the app exactly how they want it to be to encourage them to keep up with building healthy habits.
