Introducing Proto.io 5

It’s been two years now that we started this journey to the far and beyond. Our goal has always been to build creative tools that empower anyone (from coders to designers) to build interactive experiences better and faster. Remaining faithful to our goal we introduce Proto.io 5 our latest and most powerful release.

Proto.io 5 takes prototyping a step further by expanding the platform with a set of tools, features and numerous improvements.

Proto.io 5 Highlights

Animation States + Timelines
Proto.io 5 introduces Animation States and Timelines a fast and intuitive way to build HTML5 interactive animations. Users can create different states of the same screen and easily define the tween transitions, animations and interactions between each state using the powerful new timelines to create animations in a better, faster and easier way.

Draggable functionality
Each UI item on the screen can be set to draggable, enabling drag functionality that works on the web and mobile devices, without writing a single line of code. UI elements can be configured to become draggable or rotatable to allow more sophisticated and advanced user interactions. Advanced draggable properties and callback events pave the way for even more innovative and intriguing interactive experiences.

Set Variable and Get Property interactions
Proto.io 5 introduces variables that can be used to capture user input, record events and record data from interaction callbacks. Variables can be used to change dynamically different properties of any item on the screen and more.

New touch events
More mobile events like touch, release and pinch have been added to enhance user interaction. All events are compatible with mobile and web, thus allowing the development of multi platform experience with no hustle.

Bits and pieces
More than 30 small updates took place in this version. The most important include updates of all JS 3rd party libraries, iOS7 compatibility issues, editor UI changes and lots of performance improvements.

What’s Next
As many of you expect, iOS7 components library is coming next. Sorry for taking so long but the features above were a prerequisite for the new features to come which include responsive and web prototyping, widgets, and more. We will periodically release the above features in the next few weeks. Thank you for your patience and support.
